Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Sahr Richardson, 21, (DOB: 06/07/2001), of Redford, in connection with fleeing and eluding Detroit police officers.

On August 11, 2022, at approximately 10:08 p.m., Detroit police officers were in the intersection of Fort Street and Schaefer Highway in Detroit when they initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for improper plates. When officers discovered that the vehicle was stolen, it is alleged that the defendant fled from the scene. During the pursuit, it is also alleged that Defendant Richardson fired shots at the officers. The pursuit ended at Southfield Freeway and Outer Drive in Detroit where the defendant exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot. After a brief foot chase, officers were able to apprehend the defendant.

Sahr Richardson has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, one count of Discharge from a Vehicle, one count of Third-Degree Fleeing and Eluding, one count of Receiving and Concealing a Motor Vehicle, two counts of Felonious Assault, one count of Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer, and 10 counts of Felony Firearm. *

He was arraigned on August 14, 2022, in 36th District Court and given a $250,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 22, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for August 29, 2022, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Kenyetta Stanford Jones.
